The rate at which the world is changing is unprecedented. The same is true of organizational change. Leaders and management teams have been making upturns in structures, systems and processes to gain efficiency. Having said that, change initiatives often lack the desired success because they tend to miss out on the people aspect of change. Taking a step back, at times it is also because the leaders behind the change implementation process lack the requisite competence to do so. Driving change and the ability to lead change is frequently missed out in the design of most leadership interventions. The fact is that Change management needs to be an inherent part of any long-term leadership development intervention.
It is also noteworthy that any successful change management initiative requires ownership from different stakeholders and across hierarchy. In the absence of the latter, the onus of change management is left to a few people and it will eventually not yield the desired outcomes.
The Leadership and Change Management course therefore includes elements of Change management within Leadership. While it is most relevant for middle and senior management, there is nothing stopping young managers from gaining value through the course. Leadership and Change Management are critical competencies in any manager and being able to demonstrate these will bode well for career progression.
The Leadership and Change Management program has been successfully implemented at various organizations in India and overseas by PeopleFirst certified consultants, coaches and facilitators as well as the leaders trained on the subject.
